Seeing Green
Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are heading to Alabama this coming weekend in search of their 3rd Division II national championship in the last 9 years.
On Saturday, our ol' buddy AD called a genius game from the offensive side in what were less than ideal conditions. I was in Maryville around kickoff time and it was 14 degrees with freezing rain. Go Bearcats !!

Do You Believe...
Do you believe in the art of growing old
Do you believe that rock n roll can save your soul
Do you believe in everything you do
Cuz when you do that's when it all comes back to you
Before you think about yourself
Think of someone else
Do it for yourself
And do it for someone else

Motivation ?
Regardless of where it's found...Motivation is a wonderful thing. RP
Happy Hour Hot Spot: Met up with the Prez of GSB Shoal Creek chapter for Happy Hour. Old stand-by LaBodega on SW Blvd is still a great place to find 1/2 price drinks and awesome small plate bites.
2008 Election Update: For all you Mike Huckabee fans... Chuck Norris is officially on the "Huck Truck" bandwagon.

Rednecks
Compliments of the Phoenix GSB Chapter. He's expected to be in rare form at the Sit-Down.
* If you whistle at women in church......You may be a Redneck
* If you've ever slow danced at the local Waffle House......You may be a Redneck

2007 Holiday Sit-Down December, 20th 810 Zone Plaza
Be Prepared
The Bearcats have advanced to the D-II quarterfinals. They laid the smack-down on West Texas A&M 56-28. Our ol' GSB buddy Adam Dorrel "AD" has kept the offense clicking.
Next up is Chadron state who we faced in last years quarterfinal round. This time we're playing in their house. Semifinal match up would be against winner of Grand Valley and Central WA who knocked out UNO this past weekend. Go Bearcats !!
Too bad D-I can't figure out a playoff system. It's a lot less talkin and more walkin...

3 strikes and...you're out
Finally had a look at the big one I've been waiting for. Biggest rack I've seen not hanging on a wall. He got winded me about 60 yards out and was none to happy about the encounter. After a 5 minute stare-down that included a fair amount of hoof stompin and snorting from his end, he was gone. He'll be bigger next year.
Coco couldnt make the trip but I brought home a picture of big brother Toby.

No luck thus far...
'07 season is off to a slow start... at least the deer portion. I did have my own little version of Animal Kingdom. Saturday evening's hunt was full of action with the rut heating up, bucks and does were doing their traditional cat and mouse games all around my position deep in the timber. I was fortunate to see the culmination of the mating process which for those unaware is quite rare to witness first hand.
I finished the day with a very close how-do session with a resident opposum. He made it clear, it was time for me to turn over the timber to the night time party.
Sunday's weather was very warm and action was slow until sundown, I found myself in a 12ft triangle showdown of no-blink with a yearling doe and 2 raccoons. For what seemed like 5 mins, I was looking at her, she was looking at me, the coons were looking at us both and around the triangle we went.
Hezzy bagged a nice little 8-pointer but Kunky, D-Luv, Okie and I were shut-out. We'll be back this week for another round.

Times are a changin...
Made a final check-in to Possum Walk last night. After ringing up the house, I was informed Uncle Kunky was out in the feedlot but not to worry....I could "call him on his cell phone".
It's official the last holdout finally broke down and got himself a Hip-Horn. Never thought we'd see the day.

Don't Judge Too Quickly....
There are typically 2 sides to every story. The only question is... Which side is better?

When you're handed lemons...
Occasionally we all take sports too seriously. The Herd put it simply last week... "Make it a part of your life, not your entire life." Less emphasis on the scorecard and more on the experience. Some of the most enjoyable times at the course are shooting the breeze with your pals on the putting clock and post round cocktails. Scores are forgotten, Friends are not.
